Castiglione della Pescaia, the Monte Argentario peninsula with the towns of Porte Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano are favourite seaside destinations.

Proceeding along the coast you will also find the beautiful Parco Naturale dell'Uccellina (Maremma Natural Park), a nature reserve with beautiful beaches and lots of outdoor activities such as organized hiking tours and moutain bike trails.

Siena, Montalcino, Pienza, The abbey of San Galgano, San Gimignano are cities and towns of great historical interest.

Close to Civitella Marittima you can find the Petriolo Thermal baths, with its pools of hot spring water freely available to the public. Don't forget a visit to the hot springs at Bagno Vignoni, Saturnia and San Casciano Bagni all just a short distance away.

Nature lovers will find a vast network of hiking trails and country roads in the surrounding area suitable for long leisurely walks or excursions by bike.

How to get here

From Florence:

Exit the A1 autostrada at Firenze-Certosa and head in the direction of Siena. At Siena, take highway SS223 south towards Grosseto. After approximately 35km you will pass the exit for Civitella Marittima. Proceed towards Grosseto for another 2km until you find the turn-off for La Carpineta on your right.

From Rome:

Head in the direction of Civitavecchia/Grosseto and proceed towards Grosseto. At Grosseto, take highway SS223 in the direction of Siena. After 29km you will find the turn-off for La Carpineta on your right.
